Last year we started harvesting honey about July 5th – this year, we’re behind. Like last year, the blackberries bloomed early but this year, after they bloomed, cooler weather set it ..so the bees just couldn’t forage like they did last year.
So, honey is a coming – but it may be a couple weeks from now!
UPDATE 7/30/16: Checking honey this weekend to see if the honey is ready. Been close but the last time I check, the honey wasn’t capped ..thus not quite ready to pull. I do have a small amount at the Coupeville and Oak Harbor Farmers Market. I think only 4 jars left.
