The Bees Are Back In Town!

20160326_133032Installed 10 new starter bee hives yesterday. 5 of them mine. The picture show us installing bees in a hive for a fellow island beekeeper. It was a great bee day, looking through combs, bees flying everywhere and getting into hives. Only got stung three times …one sting caused me to drop a frame (oops!!) – luckily that frame was only pollen and some patches of capped honey.

The weather is supposed to be looking nice starting Tuesday and last for a while. Swarm season is close at hand – so call me if you see any! Save those bees!

The bees are out on the blooms – so please don’t be spraying those blooms with anything that might kill the bees. Those bees are doing their thing, pollinating those trees and other plants and using that pollen to build up their population so that they have enough bees for the blackberry blooms – which is our biggest nectar flow on Whidbey Island.20160325_161934
