The winter comes and that means that it is time to prepare for next year. Time to clean up last years boxes and frames that are not being used and get ready new boxes and new frames for the new year. Last year was a growing year – sudden with the addition of 6 new hives bought as packages and 2 new hives, one from an increase of my bees, the other from a cut-out (see previous post). But this year, growth will be slower and it will depend on my bees and how they are doing.
I have to be ready. The boxes built. The frames half way done. Then time to paint the outside of the boxes. April, May, June, July. It all seems still far away.
